Every day we are bombarded by images of sexual objectification and violence. Such media has become so deeply ingrained in our collective consciousness that we forget to question it. Cork Stamp presents viewers with a series of strange and uncomfortable photographs, each of which insinuate the same kind of violent and objectifying imagery we are so often presented with. While the series is not explicitly graphic, Cork Stamp is meant to jolt viewers out of complacent acceptance of the subliminal messages in mass media and force them to confront the reasons contributing to the photographs’ intrinsic sense of discomfort.
